Sheera is a dessert made from rawaa (sooji) that is usually prepared for auspicious occasions like pooja. But there's no reason why it can't be had at one's whim!
Ingredients
- 1 cup Ravaa
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Ghee
- 1 - 1.5 cups Milk
- 2-3 nos. Bananas
- A pinch Elaichi
- A tiny pinch Salt
- Cashewnuts, Almonds (sliced) and Saffron to garnish
Procedure
- Melt the ghee in a non-stick pan and heat it for about 5 minutes.
- Add the rawa to this and keep frying till lightly golden brown.
- Add nuts to the mix.
- Now add the milk (keep about 1/4 cup aside for later), preferably warm.
- Keep stirring, so that the rawa doesn't form granules.
- Once it becomes slightly thick, add the sugar and elaichi powder and the pinch of salt. Continue stirring.
- Mash the bananas lightly in the remaining milk and add to the simmering mixture. Let cook for about 6-8 minutes.
- Serve piping hot and garnished with cashews and almonds.
